Soffit heights, existing runs, slab thicknesses and structural openings all have to be known before anything can be routed or loaded — and none of it is on the drawings you were given. A registered point cloud gives you the building as it is, and a model gives you something to clash against.

How the job runs

Four stages, from brief to delivery. Every output is shaped by howengineering consultants actually work.

Brief

What you need to design, and to what tolerance. Structural work and MEP routing do not need the same level of detail, and pricing follows the difference.

On site

Mobile scanning through the whole volume, including ceiling voids, plant rooms and risers where they are accessible. Occupied buildings are captured out of hours.

Registration

The cloud is registered and cleaned, then delivered in the format your coordination environment expects. Modelling follows if the brief calls for it.

Handover

Cloud, model and drawings, with a note on conventions so the geometry can be handed between disciplines without reinterpretation.

What it costs

Interior scanning and Scan to BIM at 3 €/m² excl. VAT, exteriors at 2 €/m². Minimum job value 600 € excl. VAT. Travel within the Paris region 150 €. Rush delivery under 48 h adds 25 %. Where you only need the registered cloud and will model in-house, the job is priced on capture alone.

Questions fréquentes

Can you deliver only the point cloud, without modelling?
Yes, and many engineering consultants prefer it — you model to your own conventions. The cloud is registered, cleaned and delivered in .e57, .rcp or .rcs, ready to link into Revit or Navisworks. Priced on capture alone.
Which format should I ask for?
For Autodesk workflows, .rcp with its .rcs files — and send both, because the .rcp on its own is a two-kilobyte index that points at data it does not contain. For anything else, .e57 is the open standard and opens almost everywhere.
Do you scan ceiling voids and plant rooms?
As standard, wherever they are accessible. It is usually where the surprises are, and it is the part of the building that never made it onto the drawings you were handed.
